OVERVIEW:

The Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) Office of Information Technology (MaineIT) provides information technology support to over 13,000 employees.  MaineIT oversees large scale enterprise applications that support the critical and diverse business needs of the State of Maine and its agencies.

ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:

MaineIT is seeking a technical professional to support Jira, Confluence, and Subversion.  The successful candidate will understand how these systems are utilized within MaineIT and provide support and maintenance to the current installations, as well as provide recommendations to management on future roadmap for them.   

This is advanced technical services work in an integrated computer network environment.  Responsibilities include designing, installing, and configuring multi-user operating, network, and/or application systems; performing advanced troubleshooting and vendor technical liaison functions; and overseeing development and delivery of user training on an agency-wide basis.  This classification is distinguished from the lower levels in this job series by having full responsibility for overall network systems operations in an agency or major Bureau, and by playing a significant role in establishing agency/bureau information systems strategic direction.  Supervision is typically exercised over technical or support personnel.  Work is performed under limited supervision. This position is located in Augusta, ME and reports to Shared Services.

 

Hybrid Work Opportunity – The employee in this position currently has the opportunity to work from home as much as 90% of the time.

 

TECHNICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Performing a full range of administrative functions to control systems and to attain maximum utilization and efficiency.
  • Providing user support.
  • Monitoring services daily and report errors.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of agency information system policy to establish agency Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Planning, developing, coordinating, and managing complex projects in order to achieve agency information systems objectives.
  • Participating in the development of internal data management plans and coordinating plans and activities with personnel to avoid duplication of efforts, share information, and maximize system efficiency.
  • Participating in the planning, implementation, and management of special projects, and providing assistance in achieving agency information systems objectives.
  • Providing support as needed to the implementation of the Business Recovery Plan.
  • Providing documentation on all specific agency application installs, computer setups, and any projects for that agency.
  • Interacting and working as a team with a variety of system support staff in order to ensure work is accomplished in an efficient and effective manner.

 

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience managing Atlassian Jira and Confluence at a system administrative level
  • Knowledge of Jira project development
  • Knowledge of centralized version control systems
  • Experience with Apache Subversion
  • Knowledge of Git distributed version control system
  • Understanding of Agile SCRUM principles
  • Ability to troubleshoot deployments and installation problems utilizing logs files and SQL reports.
  • Ability to write and create SQL Reports.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL databases
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to generate and understand technical documentation and specifications.
  • Ability to work with a variety of information technology professionals with a wide range of skill set
  • Ability to perform work requiring lifting and physical exertion may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and organize prioritization of tasks with little instruction.
  • Possessing an understanding of customer relationship best practices.
  • Demonstrated desire to exercise accountability in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond in a timely and effective manner.
  • Understanding of empathy and how to exercise it with a variety of personalities.
  • Understanding of emotional intelligence principles.  
  • Ability to listen and understand first before responding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience).

 

A minimum of 5 years of a combination of related post-secondary education, technical certifications, or technology related work experience.

SALARY:

JOB CLASS CODE: 0929 POSITION: 065900014  PAY GRADE: 26 - ($59,259.20 - $80,017.60/yr.)*

   *Includes a 15% recruitment and retention salary adjustment. In addition to the above base salary this position is eligible for a training bonus applied for the duration of employment in this position.
